Add the Amabrik snippet to Squarespace in minutes with Code Injection (Header). Step by step, with the plan you need (Core or above, not Basic).

Amabrik runs on Squarespace through one small script. Squarespace doesn’t have an app marketplace, so there’s no plugin to install. Instead, you paste the Amabrik snippet into the site’s header using a built-in feature called Code Injection. Once it’s saved, every page on your site loads Amabrik, and you control which widgets appear from your Amabrik dashboard.

Here’s the whole thing, start to finish.

Before you start: check your plan

Code Injection is a premium Squarespace feature. As of June 2026 it’s included on the Core, Plus, and Advanced plans. It is not available on the Basic plan.

If you’re on Basic, you’ll need to upgrade to Core or higher before you can add the snippet. You can check your plan under Settings > Billing.

Step 1: Get your Amabrik snippet

Sign in to your Amabrik dashboard at app.amabrik.com.
Open the Install page.
Copy the full snippet shown there. It looks like this, with your real site ID in place of YOUR_SITE_ID:

Copy it exactly as shown on the Install page. The data-site value is unique to your account, so don’t change it.

Step 2: Open Code Injection in Squarespace

In a new tab, log in to your Squarespace site.
From the Home Menu, go to Settings.
Click Advanced.
Click Code Injection.

This opens the Code Injection panel, which has two boxes: Header and Footer.

Step 3: Paste the snippet into the Header

Click into the Header box.
Paste your Amabrik snippet. If there’s already other code in the Header box, add the Amabrik line on its own new line. Don’t replace what’s there.
Click Save in the top corner of the panel.

That’s it. Code in the Header box is injected into the <head> tag on every page of your site, so Amabrik now loads everywhere.

Step 4: Check it’s live

Header code runs on your live, published site, not in the Squarespace editor preview. So check it on the real site:

Open your live site in a normal browser tab (your public address, like yourdomain.com).
If you’ve already turned on a widget in your Amabrik dashboard, you should see it appear.
To confirm the script itself loaded, right-click the page, choose View Page Source, and search for amabrik. You should find the snippet inside the <head> section.

If nothing shows yet, that’s expected until you enable a widget. Do that next.

Step 5: Turn on your widgets

The snippet connects your site to Amabrik. What visitors actually see is decided in your dashboard.

Go back to your Amabrik dashboard.
Open the Widgets page.
Pick a widget (for example a cookie consent banner or a popup), set it up, and publish it.

Changes you publish in the dashboard go live on your Squarespace site without touching the snippet again. You paste the script once and manage everything from Amabrik after that.

Troubleshooting

I can’t find Code Injection. It’s a premium feature. If the menu item is missing or greyed out, you’re most likely on the Basic plan. Upgrade to Core, Plus, or Advanced under Settings > Billing, then the Settings > Advanced > Code Injection option will be there.

I pasted the snippet but see nothing on my site. Two common reasons. First, header code only runs on your published live site, not the in-editor preview, so check your real address. Second, the snippet just connects Amabrik; you still need to enable and publish at least one widget from the dashboard.

It worked, then a change didn’t show up. Squarespace and your browser can cache pages. Refresh with a hard reload (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows), or open the site in a private window to see the current version.

I edited the snippet and it broke. Paste the snippet exactly as the Install page gives it, including your data-site ID. If you’re unsure, delete the line in the Header box, copy a fresh snippet from the dashboard, paste it again, and save.

FAQ

Do I need a plugin or app?

No. Squarespace has no app marketplace. Amabrik is a single script you add through Code Injection.

Which Squarespace plan do I need?

Core, Plus, or Advanced. Code Injection isn’t available on Basic.

Will this slow down my site?

The snippet loads with the async attribute, so it loads alongside your page instead of blocking it.
