Give Amabrik access to your PrestaShop store

Add a PrestaShop employee for Amabrik with a SuperAdmin profile, or share access safely, so we can install the snippet. Plus how to remove access after.

You’ve asked Amabrik to install the snippet for you. To do that, we need to edit a theme template file in your PrestaShop back office. The safe way to grant that is to create an employee account for us, rather than sharing your own login. You stay in control, you can see exactly what we can reach, and you can remove us in seconds when we’re done.

Before you start, make sure you (or whoever does this) have a SuperAdmin account. If you’re not sure, see creating an admin account on PrestaShop.

These steps apply to PrestaShop 8.x and PrestaShop 9.

The email to invite

When you submit the Request Installation form in your Amabrik dashboard, we confirm the exact email address to use for the new employee. Use that address, not a guess. It’s shown to you when you submit the form, so keep that page handy while you follow the steps below.

This is the safest option. You create one employee account for us, give it the right profile, and that’s all the access we have. You’ll need to be signed in as a SuperAdmin.

  1. Sign in to your PrestaShop back office as a SuperAdmin.
  2. In the left menu, open Advanced Parameters > Team > Employees.
  3. Click Add new employee (top right).
  4. Fill in the form:
    • First name and Last name: put something like Amabrik and Install so the account is easy to spot later.
    • Email address: enter the exact email Amabrik gave you on the Request Installation form. This is also the login for the account.
    • Password: set a strong password. You can share it with us through a secure channel, or send us the password reset, whichever your team prefers.
    • Permission profile: choose SuperAdmin. This lets us edit the theme file where the snippet goes. If you’d rather not grant full SuperAdmin, pick a custom profile that can reach the theme and file edit pages instead.
    • Active: leave it set to Yes.
  5. Save.

Once the account is active, tell us it’s ready (or share the login through a secure channel). We sign in, add the snippet to your theme, and you confirm your widgets are live. Then remove the account (see below).

2. Temporary login (fallback, least preferred)

If you can’t create an employee, you can give us a temporary login. This is the least safe choice, so only use it if you have to:

  • Create a separate employee account just for us as above, then share its login through a secure channel (never plain email or chat).
  • Disable or delete that account the moment the install is done.

We’ll always prefer the dedicated employee in step 1. Sharing your own SuperAdmin login is not something we ask for, and you shouldn’t do it. PrestaShop also records actions per account, so a separate login keeps a clean trail of what was changed and by whom.

Remove the employee after the install

Once your widgets are showing on your store, take our access away. You don’t need to keep us connected for Amabrik to keep working, since the snippet lives in your theme and runs on its own.

  1. Go to Advanced Parameters > Team > Employees.
  2. Find the Amabrik account (the email you added).
  3. Open the dropdown at the end of its row and choose Delete, then confirm. If you’d rather keep the record, set the row’s Enabled toggle to off instead, which disables the login without removing it.

That’s it. Your widgets keep running, and we no longer have any way into your store.

FAQ

Why a separate employee instead of my login?

A dedicated employee lets us in with a known scope, and you can remove it in seconds. Your own login is tied to you, and PrestaShop tracks actions per account, so keeping them separate keeps a clean trail. Sharing your login also breaks if you ever change your password.

Does the account have to be SuperAdmin?

SuperAdmin is the simplest choice, because editing theme files needs full back office rights. If you don’t want to grant full access, you can build a custom profile under Advanced Parameters > Team > Permissions that can reach the theme and file edit pages, then assign that. SuperAdmin just saves you the setup.

Will deleting the employee break my widgets?

No. The snippet stays in your theme and keeps loading your widgets. Removing our employee account only stops us reaching your back office; it has no effect on what visitors see.

The new employee can’t sign in.

Check that the account is set to Active, that the email matches the one on your Request Installation form exactly, and that the profile is SuperAdmin (or a profile with the right access). If the password isn’t working, send us a password reset from the Employees page.

Can a non-SuperAdmin create this account?

No. Only a SuperAdmin can reach Advanced Parameters > Team and assign the SuperAdmin profile. If you’re not a SuperAdmin, see creating an admin account on PrestaShop.
