Give Amabrik access to your Ghost site

Invite Amabrik as a Ghost staff user with the Administrator role so we can add the snippet. Step by step, plus how to remove access once the install is done.

You’ve asked Amabrik to install the snippet for you. To do that, we need to reach Code injection in your Ghost settings. The safe way to grant that is to invite us as a staff user with the Administrator role, rather than sharing your login. This page shows you how, plus a fallback and how to remove our access once the install is done.

Before you start, make sure you have admin rights on the site. If you’re not sure, see creating an admin account on Ghost.

The email to invite

When you submit the Request Installation form in your Amabrik dashboard, we confirm the exact email address you should invite. Use that address, not a guess. It’s shown to you when you submit the form, so keep that page handy while you follow the steps below.

This is the safest option. You send us a staff invite with the Administrator role, and you can remove it in seconds once we’re done. Only the Owner and existing Administrators can invite new staff.

  1. Sign in to your Ghost admin. On Ghost(Pro) that’s the link in your welcome email; if you self-host, it’s your site URL with /ghost/ added.
  2. Open Settings, then go to Staff (under General; the direct address is /ghost/#/settings/staff).
  3. Click Invite people.
  4. Enter the email address Amabrik gave you on the Request Installation form.
  5. Set the role to Administrator. That role can reach Code injection, which is what we need to add the snippet. Editor, Author, and Contributor can’t, so don’t pick those.
  6. Click Send invitation now.

We receive an email invitation and accept it to join your site. Until we accept, the invite shows in the Staff list as a pending invite, where you can resend or revoke it. Once we’ve added the snippet and you’ve confirmed your widgets are live, remove our access (see below).

2. Temporary login (fallback, least preferred)

If the invite path doesn’t work for you, you can give us a temporary login to an Owner or Administrator account. This is the least safe choice, so only use it if you have to:

  • Share the login through a secure channel, never plain email or chat.
  • Change the password the moment the install is done.

We’ll always prefer the Administrator invite in step 1. It lets us in with a clear, named account you can remove on your own, and you never have to hand over your own password.

Remove our access after the install

Once your widgets are showing on your site, take our access away. You don’t need to keep us connected for Amabrik to keep working, since the snippet lives in your site’s Code injection and runs on its own.

  1. Open Settings > Staff in your Ghost admin.
  2. Find the Amabrik staff user (the email you invited) and open their profile.
  3. Open the menu (the gear or three-dot menu on the profile) and choose Delete user, then confirm. If the invite was never accepted, revoke the pending invite from the Staff list instead.

That’s it. Your widgets keep running, and we no longer have any way into your site.

FAQ

Why a staff invite instead of my login?

An Administrator invite lets us in with a named account you can remove in seconds, and it never exposes your password. Sharing your login gives full control of everything and breaks the moment you change your password, so it’s the wrong tool here.

Why Administrator and not a lower role?

Site-wide Code injection, where the snippet goes, is only open to the Owner and to Administrators. Editors, Authors, and Contributors can’t reach it, so the install wouldn’t be possible with a lower role.

Can’t I give a permission for code only?

Ghost doesn’t offer a code-only staff role. Code injection access comes with the Administrator role (and the Owner), so that’s the role to use.

Will removing your access break my widgets?

No. The snippet stays in your site’s Code injection and keeps loading your widgets. Deleting our staff user only stops us reaching your settings; it has no effect on what visitors see.

Where exactly is Invite people?

Open Settings > Staff (under General), then click Invite people at the top of that panel.

The invitation email didn’t arrive.

Open Settings > Staff, find the pending invite, and resend it. Double-check the email matches the one Amabrik gave you on the Request Installation form, and ask us to check our spam folder if it still doesn’t show.
